Personal Training in Glasgow

What is the purpose of Personal training and a Personal Trainer?

So lets start with the definition of a Personal Trainer, this is a fitness professional involved in exercise prescription and instruction. (definition taken from Wikipedia).

So in other words a Personal Trainer is qualified individual that has a passion for exercise and a strong desire to pass this onto clients in the form of personal training.  This may involve working with individuals who have weight and/or health issues, rehabilitation i.e. working back to fitness from injury and fitness goals such as  training for a 10k, half marathon or marathon.

Personal Training With a Personal Trainer – Yes or No..?

All that being said, the decision to commit to Personal Training is not usually taken lightly, there are all the different elements/hurdles of your everyday lifestyle to take into account, such as work and family commitments, social engagements, allocating the time and effort, cost and of course last but not least, the question Can I be bothered?

I look upon personal training as some ME time, this is when I can focus and spend time in the gym working on my cardio, weights , body weight exercises…..not the food shop, the laundry or picking the kid(s) up from their next social activity, it is my time to clear my head. It is for me as a Personal Trainer the opportunity to hone in on your particular fitness level and improve it by providing you with a variety of exercises that will (a) improve your cardiovascular health, (b) provide you with more energy (c)help with weight loss (d) improve your flexibility (e) tone the muscles to give you a better all over shape….These for me are the pros for exercising in a personal training environment and when you weigh that up with the cons, sitting on the couch watching mindless TV, constantly feeling tired, always reaching or trying to resist reaching for the crisps/chocolate/biscuits etc.

Benefit From a Personal Trainer…

When you weigh up all the elements of Personal Training with a professional Personal Trainer the positives always (in my opinion) win over the negatives. When you also take into account the personal attention to your technique, how your feeling on any particular day, the fact that you have your own personal gym environment, these elements can only lead to major positive results.
